Hi everyone, for my first blog I am going to tell you all about something that I do every couple of weeks to make eating and cooking gluten free and whole meals as a college student a little bit easier. When it comes to meal prepping I always would get tired of eating the same meals everyday for a week. I realized I was wasting food as I would end up not wanting to eat the same meals so I would end up picking up Chipotle. I was not only wasting food but also money. To help with this, I started what I like to call, ingredient prepping. This is where I buy a bunch of fresh produce and cut it up and freeze it. By doing this I not only save money I also save time on busy nights when I am needing a whole, balanced meal. Today I cut up celery, carrots, zucchini, and sweet potatoes. I always keep a stash of onion in the freezer as well as it is a staple in most of my recipes. As you can see pictured below is all of the produce cut up in the freezer bags. I always make sure to date them just incase a bag falls to the back of the freezer I know how long it has been there.
Ingredient prepping is something that I recommend to everyone as its a way to save time each day and money. It is also very convenient when you wake up feeling under the weather and are wanting homemade soup but don't have the energy to cut up fresh veggies you just go to your freezer and all of the veggies are already washed and cut ready to be thrown in a pot of broth.
